The easiest way to create templates is to use your existing site. If you are redesigning your site, we recommend that you build an HTML mock-up first. Take as long as you want working on this mock-up and don't focus on how hard it will be to reproduce the site; that's the job of Dispatch. Analyze your design to figure out how many templates to create. Remember, elements such as stories and headlines are dynamic, so you are only analyzing unique design styles and feature sets to identify unique templates. You will probably discover that your site consists of a home page template, a template for each section, and possibly a template for each sectional table of contents. Some of you may also need individual templates for certain columns. Whatever your scenario, you can always add, edit, or delete templates whenever the needs arise. That's one of the many benefits of working with templates. Once you have the perfect site, with all the features and layouts that you want, it's relatively easy to convert the pages into templates.
